    Goldfinches, Owls, and Swans are mostly very scarce.
    The Currower rookery is at the house of Mr. Mc Gloin, and there is another at the house of Margaret Mullen in Breaffy - a village adjoining Currower.
    There is very little shooting done in this district, because the woods are scarce as are also the birds.
    The people of this district have several beliefs regarding birds. It is believed for instance that if Wild Geese fly high or towards the (South) North there will be fine weather, but if they fly low or towards the South there will be bad weather.
    When the Curlews are calling there will be rain.
    When a number of rooks gather in a field it is a sign of rain.
