    answered and said "My field is God's earth. land was free at that time and it was a thing no one could call his own. "Answer me two questions" said the king. "The first one is, Why did the earth grow such corn then and has ceased to do so now? Secondly: Why does your grand-son walk with two crutches, your son with one and yourself with none, and why are your eyes so bright your speech so clear and so pleasant to the ear?" The old man answered. "These things are so, because men have ceased to live by their own labour and have begun to live by the labour of others. In the old times men lived by their own labour and according to God's will, they had what was their own and did not touch what others had."
