barefooted looking for the fortune. When she was beside the house, she thought of her dirty feet and washed them providing the water herself as there was no water near. O’Donnell was watching her from the window. When she came in he pretended he didn’t know her and asked her where she was from and if she had any trade. She said she hadn’t but playing on a Jew harp. Then he composed this verse:-

    Geallfaidh an fear bréagach
    Gach a bhféadfadh a chroidhe
    Agus silfidh an fear sanntach
    Go cinnte go bhfuighfidh
This refers to a man who was looking for a fortune. He was promised a lot and got nothing.
