  1. From time to time things are found in bogs dug up and turned up with the plough. Some of these are in my possession now.
    I have
    1. 4 stone Celts
    2. 2 bayonets dug up at Frenchill - scene of the encounter between the French and English in 1798.
    3. A semicircular stone evidently a sharpening stone of some sort found at the bottom of a bog about twelve feet deep.
    4. A large lump of butter found in the bog.
    One of the celts given to me was of granite - a kind of stone not found in this district. It was the most beautiful of its kind I ever saw.
