  1. Curious Nicknames
Coming to our Church in Belcarra at present are 4 men on whom the neighbours have bestowed curious nicknames.
    One is called The Duck
    Another called The Goose
    Another called The Mouse
    Another called The Calf
When I enquire why such unusual nicknames: I was told that they resemble in some way or another these animals: but these resemblances (if resemblances there be) are entirely too fine for me to discern.
There are some other nicknames "Spotter". "Shiner" "Kitchener": "Ginger".
One man is known as "Kit", another as "Kate".
We have "Racker". "Sledger". "Friday" Bullock, "Dot" (a man) "General". "Buckeen" & Bolger, "Gad"
Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
