    Old Coughlan was a School Teacher. The school house was afterwards turned into a police Barrack. Twas burned in 1920. Mr J. Ryan carries on General business in the renovated ruins.
    A man named Lownes was one time parson and lived in the Glebe House Belcarra.
    Maxwell who wrote "Wild Sports of The West" also lived there.
    Another parson was named Donnelly. He had been a priest, but he 'verted, somewhere in the Midlands. He died in Belcarra and was buried at Elm Hall about half a mile away. This gave rise to the saying locally that a priest and parson were buried in the same grave. the priest and parson being one and the same man Donnelly.
